Study Leave for Our Principal

Last December our School Principal, Paul Whitehead signed off his new employment contract as Principal of Bold Park Community School. To date he has been in the role nearly five years and his new contract has been renewed for a further 5 years and some months. His new contract became effective as at 1st February 2019. On behalf of the Board we warmly welcome this contract renewal as Paul is highly regarded and appreciated for his professionalism, integrity, approach-ability and unwavering passion for our School both within the Bold Park Community and by external organisations.

A feature of Paul’s contract is a Study Leave component that is offered by the School at the completion of a contract period (on the condition that his contract is renewed). The purpose of Study Leave is to enhance his knowledge and performance in the role and the overall standing of the School. Paul’s Study Leave has been approved by the Board and we are pleased to let you know that he will be taking a well-deserved Study Leave for the last three weeks of Term 1 and the first three weeks of Term 2 including the school holiday period in between.

During this time Paul will attend the Reggio Emilia Study Tour in Italy and the Finland Study Tours both conducted by AISWA. He will spend time learning from world leaders in education and will visit many cutting-edge school environments. Paul has also signalled that he will be self-funding a trip to the USA during his annual leave later in the year.

During Paul’s time away, Felicity Kinsella will step in as Acting Principal and will also hold her Primary Team Leader responsibilities over this eight-week period. Many of you will know Felicity well. Felicity has worked at Bold Park Community School since 2012 across many roles including as a teacher, Arts Specialist, Board Member and currently as a Team Leader.

On behalf of the Board we welcome and congratulate Felicity for taking the opportunity to fill the Acting Principal role during Paul’s absence. We are confident that with Paul’s extensive and thorough handover Felicity will flourish in the role and it will be a seamless transition for all.
