Julia Hughes

Over many years, Julia studied the human condition from an Arts degree in Philosophy and Religion completed in 2005, to a serious commitment to working as a barista and making people happy each morning. She also completed a Certificate in Museum Studies in 2005 at the ECU Museum of Childhood. While living and working in London in 2007/08 Julia developed a rapport with children from the impoverished council flats nearby her home and decided to return to Australia to study teaching.

After completing her teaching degree in 2010, Julia began work in two schools for students with disabilities but she had become aware of Bold Park Community School and was very keen to work in such a progressive environment. She was given the chance in 2011 and has since had experience in the full range of Early Childhood age groups.

To Julia, Bold Park is more than a job, it’s a lifestyle. An opportunity to be the change you want to see in the world.

“A school has the responsibility not only to engage their community in the pursuit of academic skills but to promote an attitude of life-long learning and thus keep the light alive in children’s eyes.”
