Lake Monger Activity Plan Update

Mid Term 3, 2017 our community hosted Mr Brett Jackson from the Town of Cambridge who presented and talked to us regarding the Lake Monger Draft Activity Plan. The plan outlined the proposed development of Lake Monger and a particular feature for us was the proposal that a road would be constructed to link Dodd Street to the car park and a possibility that a road would be built immediately in front of the school and community garden!

We are pleased to announce that the planned road will not be proceeding.

Thank you to those parents who attended the meeting with Mr Jackson, for their feedback and for their drive in spreading the word and encouragement of our community to respond to the Town of Cambridge with their thoughts on the proposal.

We are also very thankful to Cath Blake-Powell for her time and assistance in constructing a submission to the Town of Cambridge on behalf of the school.

The most recent Community and Resources Committee Meeting (Town of Cambridge) Agenda with highlights to the following can be accessed here – Draft Lake Monger Activity Plan Community and Resources Committee Agenda.

  • 97 – 100 shows the initial proposal
  • 101-102 shows the recommendations and changes to the plan. I have highlighted some features. The big news is on page 102…. with a small caveat that it is not required “in the short to medium term…” – the school & community response was specifically noted.

“One of the things that has been wonderful about the Bold Park Community School is its opportunity to respond to the needs that are specific to the child ... it is reassuring when a school can deliver at a pace and style that is respectful of the individual's differences and needs AND to demonstrate the relevance of curriculum issues into the application for real life and living.”
