Kaya kaya !
We are in the heat of the Noongar Bonar, the season of Boonaroo ( February and March).
Tis the season to be near the coast, foraging for fresh food and conserving our energy during the days. Look out for Kooyar (baby frogs) emerging. Djiridji (Zamia palms) are very important during this time as they provide food, bedding and woody material for miyamiya (shelter)
The first term of school is always challenging for the community as it is extremely hot and dry, with easterly winds guiding us to school and westerlies taking us home.
At Wembly campus, the Kitchen garden is dormant at the moment. I am improving the soil with compost, manure and mulch. Checking the reticulation is in working order! Ready for the koolangka to sow seeds and learn about all things earth by Galup, on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar.
